Alcohol Inked Foil backgrounds
- Household foil, double sided adhesive sheet (Jac Paper), various coloured alcohol inks-not dark colours, acetate sheet, black Staz-On ink pad, Stamp, base card, black card stock, lighter contrast card. Ribbon, brads, distress inks, Embossing folder as desired. Distress applicator and felt also required to spread ink edges on the foil.
Instructions.- Gently crinkle piece of foil. Remove backing of one side of Jac paper and stick it down on to the back of foil. Smooth down front surface gently with finger. Preferably using several colours, sprinkle drops of alcohol ink over the foil surface. Blend and spread where needed with blender to cover all of foil surface. Stamp image on piece of acetate with Staz-On ink. Allow to dry before trimming to desired size. When foil is dry turn it over and trace on back of Jac paper with pencil around the piece of acetate. This will be a guide now to trim the foil down to the same size of the acetate. Once foil is trimmed, remove backing sheet on Jac paper/foil and stick down on to centre of black card (10x14cm). Carefully cut around foil shape leaving a narrow border of black around foil. The remaining frame is then fastened to base card as the border for the light contrast card. This light card is distress inked before embossing as desired. Another colour can then be applied with applicator to highlight embossing as desired. Wrap knotted ribbon around light card and fasten on the back before applying to base card with black frame. Brads are used to attach the acetate to the foil sheet in the corners. This in turn is fastened using 2mm foam squares to the base card. This background can be used to create a card for any occasion simply by changing the image stamped on the acetate.
